Last year, the boy’s St. Andrew’s Varsity basketball team kept an impressive record throughout the season. Led by seniors Marcus Adkinson, Jacob White, and Miles Law, the team managed to win their first 14 games consecutively in all competitions, including two tournament wins. One of them was the St. Andrews holiday classic as well as an 8-team tournament in New York during Christmas break. The boy’s team also won many hard fought playoff games in their division, including those against Sidwell Friends and St. James, all leading up to their final game, the MAC championship against Flint Hill. After the departure of the starting seniors, the basketball team looks to replicate their success for a second straight year under the leadership of Coach Kevin Jones and seniors George Muresan, Austin Allen, and Tyler Stewart. There have also been new additions to the team this year in an effort to strengthen the basketball program and to make way for the upcoming years. A big reason why the basketball program has been so successful is because of the supporting fans. Many times I was able to make it to games and the gym is always packed with members of the St. Andrew’s community, eager to see their team succeed. I am hoping to see many people out this year, as it is going to be an exciting and memorable season for St. Andrew’s Varsity basketball.
