The Boys Varsity Basketball team is off to their best start in history. The team is now 8-0 and is on fire. They are looking to improve upon their 18-6 record last year and win the MAC conference. After beating weaker opponents at the beginning the year and in the holiday tournament (which they won), the team beat quality competition with wins over Potomac, Georgetown Prep, and GDS. Potomac knocked St. Andrew’s out of the MAC tournament last year, but this year St. Andrew’s won in fashion, winning by 29 points and led by Marcus Adkinson who had 29 points! In addition, the team last Saturday beat Georgetown Prep 75-65. With great senior leadership and many talented players on the team, the ceiling is high. Last Tuesday, St. Andrew’s played great basketball in the second half and was able to beat GDS 67-52. That win moved them to 2-0 in the MAC conference, a great start to try to win the title. In all of Montgomery County, St. Andrew’s is currently ranked second after basketball powerhouse Montrose Christian, the school where Kevin Durant went. St. Andrew’s is ranked ahead of many other good programs, including Bullis, Springbrook, and others. The team is looking to be the MAC champions and have the best season in St. Andrew’s history.
