Put the Student in Student Center

We have all seen the development and affects of the new student center. Seriously one would have to actively try to avoid and not observe the student center and its repercussions of being built. The administration has temporally removed the tennis courts in order to use that space for parking. They also have set up a wall around the new construction similar to what Donald Trump plans to do if he becomes president. The most obvious development of the student center is the center itself, but there is a problem that has not been solved up until recently: there has been little to no student involvement. The beam signing was a start, but there is more that could be done in finding ways to implement the construction into our day. For example, letting students tour the student center (and announce it) etc.

The tours given over homecoming weekend were a step in the right direction, but there needs to be more student involvement to make the center feel more real. A few ways to accomplish this would be to put it in the curriculum; tell us of important updates in Moring meeting, and have the prep rally in the Gym to remind us of what is coming. Just incorporate the Student Center more into the school system and not just as something that throws a wrench in our day.
